What's the matter, Colonel Sandurz...CHICKEN?
Okay, so first of all, I don't know if Swarthmore gets G4 on their cable package, but if they do, then we have to somehow figure out how to watch the beginning of Spaceballs: The Animated Series on Saturday night. This is Very Important.

Second, I am having the most ridiculously shitty month health-wise since February 2007. First I had all those dizzy spells and the nosebleed and the exhaustion, and now I'm having all sorts of fun and seemingly unconnected symptoms, like the violent allergic skin reaction that is finally going away, and severe nausea right after going to the bathroom, and now a big heaping load of back pain on top of the normal fibromyalgia pain.

So first I freaked out and thought I might have a kidney infection, right? Except the symptoms don't really match up, and the back pain is feeling more and more like a muscle pull rather than an actual organ issue. I know it's possible to pull muscles in your sleep - I've done it before. Anyway, the doctor had to leave really early today, so there was no way I could get there in time. If I still feel crappy later this afternoon, I might make an appointment for tomorrow, just to point out all the shit that's been going on. Hell, even if I don't feel crappy.

I'm pissed because I'm completely out of sick leave and I really don't want to miss any more work right now, much less borrow against my future leave to go see a doctor about what might be nothing.

In any case, I feel absolutely worn out, used up, ruined. I was so productive yesterday that I don't actually have a lot to do today, so I guess I'll finish what I can and maybe go home early and nap.

For what it's worth, I pretty regularly (once every few weeks, I'd guess?) pull a muscle in my back in my sleep. It's usually very specific, like I'll only feel it when my arms are in a very specific position (like say the way I happen to pull my hands when drying with a towel or something). I figured it's just one of those things that happens.

Hope you feel better!

I find that I'd rather stagger through work to distract myself from being sick, rather than lie in bed not able to sleep, but that's just me.

Sometimes you don't have a choice.

Eliza, have you looked into getting your cortisol levels checked? You might be low. Those control your energy levels and make you feel like shit if they're low enough. (Mine used to drop below detectable levels by mid afternoon, causing me to miss half of Boccio's pyshics classes over the course the past fall because I literally could not stay awake, or if I could, could not stand up). A Vitamin B complex might help...most people are low on that anyway, and it really affects your energy levels.

Again, I'll recommend my doctor...Fishman at Optimal Health Physicians. Dealing with the insurance manually is a pain, but he really is worth it.
