HOLY JESUS MCFUCK [31 Jan 2006|01:20am]

So I got an email from Brian Aldiss today. He's regained control of the anthology project he was editing for Penguin, the one that I submitted "Friends in Need" to way back in June, before it was taken out of his hands. Apparently it's going to be shorter than he originally intended, but the important bit is that HE STILL WANTS MY STORY. What the hell. I haven't even looked at it in months, but I got so sick of re-editing it last spring that "Friends in Need" automatically equals "SEVERE SUCKITUDE" in my head.

But for some unknown reason, he still likes it and wants to put it in his book and my very first publication might be in a freaking Penguin anthology holyshit. All of my OMFGWTFALMOSTPUBLISHED hyperactive bounciness has spontaneously returned after a months-long hiatus.

*attempts to breathe normally*

Okay. All I have to do is horribly neglect all of my homework for the next three days while I plunge into edit-land for what I HOPE will be the last time with this story. I mean, I wrote it three years ago. It's been edited to death in my head, the tale long ago told, the characters moved on to bigger and better things. Even if this anthology deal doesn't end up working out, I should put the damn thing out to pasture in some magazine somewhere, whoever will take it, to get it off my back. I feel like I need that closure to be able to start writing in their universe again.

HOLY SHIT. There is no greater feeling than that of typing up a happy email to one of the pillars of SFnal literary canon with phrases like, "How's life?" and "When would you like the story by?" (Oooh, dangling participle. I'm a bad writer.) :P

Where does the time go? Into drawing, of course! Here's Part I of SWIL's sure-to-be-epic battle with the MPAA:

I was running sort of late, so it's just lineart without shading or anything. I haven't heard anyone complaining when I do this, but as a perfectionist I would prefer it if I'd had time to shade.

Off to read physics in preparation for tomorrow's lecture and hunt for summer jobs. No sleep for me! 8D
